TRISK is the short name for the project
“European Advanced Risk Assessors Accredited Training Programme for highly qualified toxicology experts”.

TRISK addresses the existing gap of training schemes and provides opportunities for practical, on the job training on risk assessment to young scientists or new graduates interested in pursuing this area of expertise, as well as trained toxicologists attracted by the opportunity to serve as member of the various scientific committees in regulatory, industry and governmental bodies engaged in risk assessment.

By contributing directly to the training of risk assessors across Member States, TRISK tackles the concern over the shortage of trained risk assessors in Europe and the potential effects this may have on the long-term sustainability of risk assessment advice at EU, national, and private sector levels.

The project focuses on understanding the profile and training requirements of risk assessors in order to design a modular training programme covering a range of disciplines in risk assessment and providing a model to establish guidelines for the training and recognition of risk assessors in accordance to a well-defined and properly acknowledged training standard.

Project results will be disseminated to key stakeholders by involving the numerous collaborating partners across Europe, through the implementation and upholding of the project website, and through the organization of various promotional events during EUROTOX scientific conferences in Dresden (2009), Barcelona (2010) and Paris (2011). Specific outcomes of the project include reinforcing the level of professional expertise, implementing a common standard of practice for risk assessment across Europe and leading the way to set up a structure to promote future risk assessment initiatives.

Work Packages (WP) PDF Print E-mail

WP 1 Coordination of the project (Coordination: UMIL)
The objective is to ensure the best operability of the project groups, support the organization of the meetings, and manage the project reporting and progress.

WP 2 Dissemination of the results (Coordination: UMIL)
Has as objectives to disseminate the results generated by the project, create awareness and recognition of the programme among the identified target audience, and involve collaboration partners in dissemination and networking activities to reach the greatest number of stakeholders and participants across Europe.

WP 3 Evaluation of the project (Coordination: UNIDS)
The objective is to measure the performance and success of the project.

WP 4 Operative design of training programme (Coordination: UMIL)
The objective is to determine the content, timing and conditions of the modular training programme. This work package will develop the framework of the content and modalities of the applied training programme as well as the schedule for the modular training programme.

WP 5 Recruitment, selection and monitoring of trainees (Coordination: KI)
The objective of this work package is to recruit, select and monitor trainees for the European Toxicology Risk Assessment Training Programme.

WP 6 Modular training programme (Coordination: UNISU)
The objective is to execute the modular training programme defined in WP4 and designed to fulfil requirements for a future accreditation/recognition towards a professional qualification as European Risk Assessor.

WP 7 Applied training programme (Coordination: IRAS-UU)
The main objective is to provide a framework for the students in this programme to obtain hands-on experience in performing toxicological risk assessments.

WP 8 Requirements for accreditation/recognition of European Risk Assessors (Coordination: KI)
The objective is to develop guidelines for a European training programme in risk assessment resulting in accreditation/ recognition of European risk assessors.
